If you’ve longed for more noticeable eyelashes, you’re in luck.

Latisse is the first FDA-approved prescription treatment on the market to grow fuller, longer lashes, said Kathe Malinowski, lead esthetician and marketing manager for Eterna MedSpa & Laser Vein Center.

How does it work?

The Latisse solution is applied along the upper lash line, from the outer corner to the inner corner, every night with a sterile applicator.

Clients will notice longer lashes in about four weeks, Malinowski said, and fuller, darker lashes in about eight weeks.

The full effects of Latisse will be realized in about four months.

“At 16 weeks in the clinical study, lashes were 106 percent fuller, 25 percent longer and 18 percent darker,” Malinowski said. “With 16 weeks of daily application, you can see results with or without mascara.”

The ideal candidate for the product is someone who suffers from hypotrichosis--inadequate or not enough lashes.

“Latisse grows lashes fuller and longer so our mascara has more to work with,” Malinowski said.

Clients who want to maintain their length and fullness need to continue to use Latisse regularly. Mascara can be worn over the treatment. Contact lenses should be removed prior to applying Latisse. They can be put back in after 15 minutes.
