Do you suffer from rosacea and hyperpigmentation?
Mandelic acid peels can be an ideal treatment for both. The treatment is specifically formulated for patients that experience redness or sensitivity on a regular basis.
Composed of 40 percent mandelic acid, part of the alpha hydroxy acid group, it is a more tolerable peel, said Kathe Malinowski, lead esthetician and marketing manager for Eterna MedSpa & Laser Vein Center.
“The peel can be used during a sunny season or on sensitive and hyperactive skin because it is a very light, non-invasive peel,” she said.
With the peel, dead skin is sloughed off revealing and promoting new skin cell growth.
Mandelic acid peels can lighten the dark spots left behind after an acne breakout and ease the inflammation brought on by rosacea.
But take note--the treatment takes time.
For best results, Malinowski recommends the peel be done in a series of four.
“They can be done 10 days apart,” she said.
Clients can do up to three Mandelic acid peel series in a year, depending on how the skin responds to the treatments.
Because the peels are so mild, there is little downtime. Clients may notice some redness.
“But generally just right after,” Malinowski said.
And not everyone will experience that side effect.
If you’re looking for a gentler way to combat damaged skin consider the mandelic peel.
