3 Things to know about Microdermabrasion

If a renewed overall skin tone and texture is what you are after, look no further than microdermabrasion. What does the treatment do exactly? Here are three things Kathe Malinowski, lead esthetician and marketing manager for Eterna MedSpa & Laser Vein Center, wants you to know:

1. It helps to jumpstart the skin’s natural rejuvenation process

During the deep exfoliation treatment, a powerful electronic vacuum is used to gently spray high-grade microcrystals across the surface of the skin through a pressurized wand in order to slough off the damaged layers. Then a diamond microdermabrasion tip is used to give the skin a fine polish. This promotes the production of healthy skin cells.

“If you want to brighten up your complexion microderms help to do this,” Malinowski said. “Removing the dead skin cells reveals brighter, smoother skin.”

2. It treats a wide range of skin conditions

Microdermabrasion can be used for skin with sun damage, fine lines, open and closed comedones and coarse-textured skin. Best results are seen in a series of one-hour treatments.

“If you haven’t done a facial in a long time this is the best way to get back into it,” Malinowski said. “Microderms remove the top layers of dead skin cells. Your products will work better for you as it won't be sitting on top of dead skin cells.”

3. It promotes relaxation

At Eterna MedSpa, clients can count on their skin being pampered.

“Our Microderms are a relaxing treatment,” Malinowski said.

Following the use of the wands, the skin is cleansed and a hydrating, calming mask is applied.

“Then we end with a hydrating serum, moisturizer, eye cream and an SPF,” Malinowski said.

Clients leave with softer skin, improved circulation, and feeling refreshed.
