Thomas Heggen, MD, FACOG

Thomas Heggen, MD, FACOG is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has practiced in the area for 22 years. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr Heggen earned his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University in Ames, IA where he graduated With Distinction with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. It was during these years he became interested in the use of lasers and light in the treatment of numerous medical conditions.

Dr. Heggen has become known for his holistic and compassionate care of his patients. His special interests include minimally invasive surgery, the perimenopause, and general medical care of his patients, especially as it is uniquely influenced by age and gender. His career-long interest in gender specific aspects of dermatology, coupled with more than two decades of experience using a variety of lasers in the treatment of gynecologic and skin conditions, have made aesthetics medicine a natural addition to his practice. Dr Heggen has received advanced training in non-surgical aesthetics/cosmetic procedures from some of the nation's leading experts in this field.

Dr. Heggen is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecology (ABOG). He is also a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), North American Menopause Society (NAMS), AMA, Illinois State Medical Society, and Will-Grundy County Medical Society.
